Spring Fever (1927)



Billy Haines pictures follow a formula. He's a wiseass who gets said ass handed to him about halfway through, then "makes good" and everyone loves him again. Usually played against a background of sports. You know why they did this formula? Because Billy was so damned good in it! *laughs* Spring Fever is energetic, exciting, and also includes a luminous Joan Crawford - who needs plot when you have those two up on the screen? (In case you still want to know: rich vs. poor lifestyles and who wants in/out. Sport this time: golf.) A sparkling picture that I enjoyed greatly, purely on the personalities of those involved.
