7 x 7 Link Award!

The kind and wonderful FlickChick of A Person in the Dark and lovely new friend I Thank You have both graced me with the 7 x 7 Link Award!

Aw, shucks, guys.  You flatter me.  ;)

While I don't pass these along -- there are too many terrific blogs for me to pick just seven -- it's great fun to follow the other rules!  So, without further ado:

Tell everyone something that no one else knows about.
I have a lip balm obsession.  I have to have one with me at all times.  Most often its either Burt's Bees or Carmex.  (This has extended into a lipstick obsession, too -- I have a box of 'em!)

Most Beautiful Piece:
I love the poem I wrote for Buster Keaton.  :)

A Title? Damfino

Most Helpful Piece:
Anything that spreads the joy that is Jack is supremely helpful.  ;)

Happy John Barrymore Awareness Day!

Most Popular Piece:
By far, it was when we discussed my dream:

Silent Stanzas: The Book?

Most Controversial Piece:
*laughs*  Probably when I was labeling poor Sue Carol as Clara Bow.

Walking Back (1928)

Most Surprisingly Successful Piece:
When I asked which poetry style I should do for Mabel Normand.  I still can't believe I got answers -- including some of Normand's own poetry.

Opinions, Please!

Most Underrated Piece:
The poem for Rudolph Valentino.  It really affected me -- still does.

The Incentive of Chivalry

Most Pride-Worthy Piece:
Far and away, the poem I wrote for Olive Thomas.  It was a sestina -- a particularly difficult form.

Our Lady of New Amsterdam

And there you have it!  ☺

Whether you've left comments or not, thank you so much for reading and spending a little time with me in my digital hidey-hole.  All of you, ALL of you, inspire me more than you know.

¡AzĂșcar!

Thank you (and lots of glitter) to FlickChick at the wonderful A Person in the Dark for bestowing this delicious little award on me!   If you don't follow her blog, what are you waiting for?  GO NOW

There are rules, however, and because I'm a good, law-abiding citizen, I will only follow half of them.  ;)   Waaay too many terrific blogs for me to tag, so all you folks - consider yourselves Irresistibly Sweet!I will comply with the Seven Random Facts about myself, however:

• I am addicted to lip balm.  I have one with me at all times.
• Yes, I am a proud Star Wars Nerd™.  Original trilogy, though I did like Sith.
• I'll be 35 next month, or 872 in Tumblr years.
• Smiley faces are my trademark!
• Red is my favorite color.  Especially deep shades like garnet.
• Long fingernails drive me crazy.  I have to keep them cut very short.
• My favorite authors are the Brontes and Oscar Wilde.

P.S.  After this post went live, I was also awarded the same honor by Rianna of Frankly, My Dear.  Thank you so much!

Yes, Virginia

Four foot eleven, a sparkler, an imp,
Leaving critics enchanted whilst on the bill,
Until the pictures stole you away-
Girls like you weren't made to sit still.
Randy and pert with a dangerous smile,
Any sadness that touched you quickly dispersed,
That beautiful face hid a spirit of iron,
Hardy, unbreakable, never coerced.

An Award!

Thank you to Lolita of Lolita's Classics for giving me the Kreativ Blogger award! You can read more about it here at Flappers and Flickers.

An Award!

Thank you to Lolita of Lolita's Classics for giving me the Kreativ Blogger award both here and at Silent Stanzas! Now, there are some rules involved:

1) Tell you seven things that you don't already know about me.
2) Name seven other blogs to receive this award.
3) Leave a comment on each of the blogs I have nominated letting them know that I have given them an award.
4) And lastly, thank the blog that gave you the award.

Seven things you don't know about me:

• I'm addicted to Chapstick. I have a tube with me at all times. *grins*
• I don't drive.
• I've played the piano by ear since I was four years old (though I'm a little rusty these days).
• I'm single.
• Italian and American South folk beliefs, and really all religion, interests me greatly.
• I have a chubby black cat named Velvet who is my darling boy.
• I love to knit - been doing it only about a year and can't get enough!

There are too many wonderful blogs out there for me to pick just seven - so I complement all of you on your dedication and eloquence. Reading your blogs makes my day! ^_^

Harold's Delight

Before I get started, I would like to warmly thank Matthew Coniam of Carfax Abbey for calling this blog a Great Read! I'm incredibly honored!

Now, the latest poem, which for some reason the Muse sent in the style of old-school rap. *laughs*

no one was better
playing the go-getter
Lloyd showed everyone how it was done

he chased every dream
followed every moonbeam
but he never forgot to have fun

alongside Hal Roach
(his good friend and his coach)
he made one-reelers to some acclaim

first as Lonesome Luke
then one day on a fluke -
he wore glasses and blasted to fame

when folks think funny
i'll bet you my money
not many folks know him from the past

but if not his name
they've all seen him the same -
hanging off the clock in "Safety Last!"

Harold Lloyd
